1.Secure the hook to the vice and secure the thread about an eye length behind the eye. Wrap the thread down about halfway down the curved shank. |
2. Build a small thread dam at the base. This will help to divide the tailing fibers.
3. Secure the tailing fibers just behind the thread ball and a couple of tight wraps will separate and divide the fibers. The length of the tail should be about a shank length. |
4. Secure the tag ends of the tailing fibers to the top of the hook shank with thread wraps up to the thorax region and trim off. Attach three strands of Superhair at the thorax region, don't worry about their orientation, they will take care of themselves.
5. Wrap the strands down to the tail tie in position covering the strands with touching thread wraps. Then wrap back up to the thorax region.
6. Build a tapered abdomen with thread wraps and finish at the thorax region. |
7.Wrap the strands forward with touching wraps. Secure the tag ends at the thorax region. |
8. Trim off the tags of the Superhair strands. Whip Finish and trim off thread. |
9. Apply UV Clear Fly Finish to the body and cure the finish with a UV light. |
10. Attach the yellow thread to the thorax region and build a small thorax with thread wraps. The thorax should extend about half of the hook shank length.
11. Attach the end of the opal tinsel to the top of the hook shank at the thorax region behind the eye with the tag end facing the rear. Secure with thread wraps.
12. Next, attach about a dozen strands of Fluoro Fiber to the top of the hook shank at the thorax region with the tag ends facing to the rear. Secure with thread wraps building the thorax. |
13. Bring the Fluoro fibers forward and secure with two thread wraps behind the eye. |
14. Next, bring the tinsel over the top of the throax creating a wingcase. Secure with two thread wraps behind the eye, then pull the tinsel over those wraps and apply two more wraps over the first two. Trim off the tag end of the tinsel.
15. Divide the fluoro fibers into two sections. Attach one segment to one side of the thorax and the other segment to the other side with a couple thread wrap behind the eye. Build a small head.
16. Trim the fibers so that the length extends just beyond the thorax. Whip Finish and trim off thread. |
17. Finished JuJu Sally |
