Stoneflies are the largest of the three main types of trout stream insects. The heads of most stonefly species typically have the same distinctive, flat profile that is almost triangular in shape. The large head is broad at the back where it meets the thorax and has with a long “flat nose” that tapers to the front. Stoneflies typically have prominent eyes situated at the rear of the head. The Nymph-Head® Evolution™ Stonefly tungsten beadhead mimics the typical stonefly shape with colors (black, brown and gold) that allow fly tiers to tie heavily weighted stonefly nymphs with a more realistic looking profile. Large is used on #4 and #6 hooks, size and weight is equivalent to a 3/16" bead. Medium is used on #8 and #10 hooks, size and weight is equivalent to a 5/32" bead. Small is used on #12 and #14 hooks, size and weight is equivalent to a 1/8" bead. 15 Beads per pack
